I'm Nathaniel Marshall. I'm a Writer and a Game Designer currently a student in DigiPen's Bachelor of Arts in Game Design degree.

AS A DESIGNER

When I was seven, I played Mario 64 for the first time. I was completely amazed with the game, and then immediately  saddened because my favorite video game heroes, Sonic and Tails, didn't have their own game like that. So, when I got home, I grabbed a piece of paper and put them into the game. It wasn't exactly the greatest thing ever, but it was the moment that made me realize that making video games was a dream worth striving for.

AS A WRITER

I've been writing nearly as long as I've been coming up with game ideas, and writing actually became the outlet of those ideas. There were many times where I'm creating worlds and go, 'And here is where the player gets this quest!' or 'This area can be expanded into a tutorial for the player.'

And after six or so years, I've developed my own writing style. I fill out worlds with deep characters built through expressive dialog and subtle wordplay with more of a reverberating impact on the story than at first glance. Worlds deep enough to get lost in. Or to build a game in.

Since starting school at DigiPen, I've found myself creating systems in both code and design, learning AS3, C++, Python, and C#. And while I don't overtly label myself as a programmer, I enjoy the problem solving that comes along with it, setting up the game to fill out.
